    The Supreme Court will pronounce today its order on the pleas to stay the directions passed by a two-judge bench on August 11 to remove the stray dogs in Delhi National Capital Region to shelter homes.

    A three-judge bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice NV Anjaria heard the matter. 

    A two-judge bench comprising Justice JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan, on July 28, took suo moto cognisance of a news item titled "City hounded by strays and kids pay price" published in today's Delhi edition of The Times of India.

    On August 11, the two-judge bench passed directions to immediately make dog shelters and report about the creation of infrastructure all over State of NCT Delhi within 8 weeks and shift the stray dogs immediately to those shelters.

    In dramatic turn of events, the case was shifted to a three-judge bench the next day after some lawyers mentioned before the Chief Justice of India that those directions were in conflict with the previous orders passed by other benches.

    On August 14, the three-judge bench heard the matter and reserved orders.

    The three-judge bench will pronounce the order today 10.30 AM.

    BREAKING Supreme Court stays the August 11 direction that the stray dogs which are picked up must not be released. The dogs which are picked up must be released after sterilisation and immunisation, except those infected with rabies or exhibiting aggressive behaviour.

    Order: After discussing in brief, because still interim directions, impleaded all States and UT. Broadened the scope pan-India. Notice issued to Animal Husbandry. Directed High Courts to set petitions to hear so that final policy or decision court be made.

    We have suggested modification

    1. two judge bench direction supplemented. Para 12 directions to be compiled with.

    2. prohibition of release kept in abeyance- can can be released. This relocation not applicable to dogs suspected of rabies or display aggresive behavior. They shall be kept in

    3. 12.5 subject to our directions

    4. MCD should create feeding areas in municipal wards. UNDER NO CONDITION FEEDING OF STRAY DOGS PERMITTED, IF VIOLATED THEY WILL BE PROCEEDED UNDER LAW.

    5. MCD will create helpline number for violation

    6. para 13 direction modified- if public servant is obstructed, they will be liable. EACH NGO/ANIMAL LOVERS SHOULD PROCEED TO PAY Rs 25,000

    7. Animal lovers can move application before MCD for adoption of dogs
