A Pakistani national stated to be residing in Goa on long term visa since 2016 has approached the Supreme Court.
The matter was mentioned today before a bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and Satish Chandra Sharma.
During the hearing, counsel for the petitioner referred to the notification issued by the Union government after the Pahalgam terror attack, as per which visas issued to Pakistani nationals stood revoked with effect from April 27.
"Then go back", said Justice Karol in response.
The counsel replied that the petitioner is not opposed to going back, but requested that his case may be heard as, "in long term visa, there's a specific condition". He urged that the petitioner was born in India.
When the bench questioned as to why the petitioner did not approach the Goa High Court, the counsel informed that the police has been visiting the petitioner.
Ultimately, the bench agreed to list the matter.
The government, in its order, stated that all existing valid Visas, except Medical visas, Long Term Visas, Diplomatic & Official visas, issued by Government of India to Pakistani nationals stands revoked with immediate effect from 27th April and that the Medical Visa issued to Pakistani Nationals will be valid only till 29th April.
