1st Post Graduate Certificate Diploma Course on International Commercial & Investment Treaty by National Law University, Delhi will be inaugurated on 15 February, 2025 . The Inaugural will be presided over by the Chief Guest Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs in the presence of Justice B.V. Nagarathna, Judge, Supreme Court of India.

The Details of the event are as follows:

Date: Saturday, 15 February, 2025

Time: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Venue: Teen Murti Auditorium, Teen Murti Marg, New Delhi

The opening address will be delivered by Justice Indu Malhotra, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Member of the Court, Permanent Court of Arbitration, The Hague and Patron-in-chief of the Chair. 

The Certificate Course on International Commercial Arbitration and Investment Treaty Arbitration is the first course of its kind to be conducted in India on this subject. The Course will be a programme with a significant focus on practical and contemporary issues in this field. It will be conducted through lectures, interactions with a range of prominent academics and practitioners of international and investment treaty arbitration.

The duration of the Course will be 4 months, which would further be divided in two parts, 2 months will be dedicated for International Commercial Arbitration (Part-A), and 2 months for Investment Treaty Arbitration (Part-B), covering various substantive and procedural issues related to the same.

Under the guidance of Chairperson, Mr. V.K. Rajah, Vice President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and Patron-in-chief, Justice Indu Malhotra, former Judge of the Supreme Court, the objective of this course is for building capacity and expertise in India in the field of international arbitration. This course will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of international commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration, equipping them with the skills to manage and resolve cross-border disputes in a globalized economy. As India's economic integration with international markets deepens, gaining a deep understanding of the legal framework governing such disputes has become increasingly essential.
