Five judicial officers took oath as judges of Allahabad High Court on Thursday (August 7). 

Notably, on August 4 the Central Government had notified the appointment of the following Judicial Officers as Judges of the High Court.

They are:

1. Pramod Kumar Srivastava,

2. Abdul Shahid,

3. Santosh Rai,

4. Tej Pratap Tiwari, and

5. Zafeer Ahmad

While the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the names of judicial officers Pramod Kumar Srivastava, Santosh Rai, and Zafeer Ahmad on July 1, the proposal to appoint Judicial Officers Tej Pratap Tiwari and Abdul Shahid as Judges of the High Court was made on April 2.

The High Court will now be working with 84 judges (including the Chief Justice), despite having a sanctioned strength of 160.
