Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday opposed before the Delhi High Court request of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to adjourn hearing in the plea against bail granted to him in the money laundering case connected to the alleged liquor policy scam.

Senior Advocate Vikram Chaudhri appearing for Kejriwal opposed the request before Justice Vikas Mahajan after ED's counsel said that the ASG was on his legs before the Supreme Court.

Chaudhari said that the central probe agency has been repeatedly taking dates in the matter from the past few months.

“There is an impending election. Why should this sword be hanging over him?….If bail is given to all 15 accused, why should it be kept pending for him?… This is only propaganda,” Chaudhri said.

On this, ED's counsel said that no prejudice was caused to Kejriwal due to adjournments as he was already out on interim bail granted by the Apex Court.

Justice Mahajan said that he will set the matter for hearing and that no prejudice was caused to Kejriwal.

“List for hearing on March 21," the Court said.

In July last year, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Kejriwal while referring his petition challenging the arrest by ED to a larger bench.

Kejriwal was granted bail by vacation judge Niyay Bindu of Rouse Avenue Courts on June 20, 2024. On ED's challenge, the Delhi High Court stayed the impugned order on June 25, 2024.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, 2024. In May last year, he was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court till June 01, 2024 in view of general elections.
