Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association has resolved to resume work from Monday–September 1, after its 6-member delegation met with Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and Justice Suryakant regarding the Supreme Court collegium's recommendation to transfer Justice Sandeep N Bhatt to Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Earlier this week, the GHCAA had unanimously resolved that the members of the bar will abstain from work with immediate effect, opposing the proposed recommendation.
The GHCAA has also decided to form a committee consisting of bar members which will be making a representation before the Supreme Court seeking an audience with the Chief Justice of India and the collegium members regarding the proposal to transfer Justice Bhatt. These members are, GHCAA President Brijesh Trivedi, advocate Hardik Brahmbhatt, senior advocate Asim Pandya, advocates Babubhai Mangukya, Dipen Dave and Bhargav Bhatt.
Thereafter on Thursday the six member delagation met with Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant along with a representation.
On Saturday (August 30), the GHCAA's managing committee decided that it shall "resume the work regularly" from Monday.
"In case of any adverse decision, we will take a fresh call," the GHCAA has said.
"We wait till the decision of the Supreme Court and decide further course of action," the bar association added.
