Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju took oath as judge of the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday (October 28).
Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru administered the oath to Justice Ganju.
By a notification dated October 14 the Central Government had notified the transfer of Justice Ganju from Delhi High Court to Karnataka High Court. Justice Ganju was sworn in as Delhi High Court judge on May 18, 2022. Her name was recommended by the Supreme Court collegium in the year 2020.
On August 27 the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the transfer of 14 judges across various High Courts which included Justice Ganju.
Addressing the gathering Justice Ganju said, “The reputation of the Karnataka High Court for its legal scholarship, judicial independence and rich legacy is both inspiring and humbling. I approach this new responsibility with a resolve to contribute meaningfully to this great institution.”
She added, “This new chapter will be dedicated to upholding justice. I look forward to upholding the ideals of fairness, integrity and independence, principles that lie at the very heart of our judicial system.”
