The National Law Institute University, Bhopal, presents the Second Edition of the NLIU Agreement Drafting and Presentation Competition, 2025, a platform designed for budding legal minds to showcase their drafting acumen and negotiation skills.

Participants will assume the role of legal counsels and draft a Master Lease Agreement between prominent companies from the automotive and leasing sectors. The competition simulates a real-world contractual negotiation scenario involving complex legal considerations, such as maintenance obligations, warranties, regulatory compliance, indemnity provisions, and dispute resolution mechanisms.

Competition Structure:

  • Phase I: Participants will draft an Agreement based on the provided Contract Proposition.
  • Phase II: The top fifteen entries will qualify for this phase, which involves presenting their Agreements before a panel of dignitaries for evaluation.

Eligibility:

  • Open to students currently pursuing their Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in Law (3-year LL.B., 5-year LL.B., or LL.M.).
  • Teams may consist of individual participants or co-authors

Awards and Prizes

  • Winners: Internship with Saraf & Partners + Cash Prize of Rs. 25,000 + Free Access to Manupatra Academy Course
  • Runners-Up: Cash Prize of Rs. 15,000 + Free Access to Manupatra Academy Course
  • Second Runners-Up: Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000 + 50% Discount on Manupatra Academy Course
  • Best Overall Submission: Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000
  • Certificate of Merit to top 15 participants
  • Certificate of Participation to all participants

Important Dates:

  • Release of Contract Proposition: 27 January 2025
  • Clarifications Deadline: 8 February 2025
  • Extended Last Date to Register: 15 February 2025
  • Extended Submission Deadline: 28 February 2025
  • Announcement of Top 15 Entries: 7 March 2025
  • Presentation Round at NLIU Campus: 22-23 March 2025

Registration Fee:

  • Individual Authorship Fee: Rs. 300/-
  • Co-Authorship Fee: Rs. 500 /-
