Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, hosted a lecture on “75 Years of the Constitution: From Awareness to Action – Youth as Catalysts for Constitutional Responsibility in Modern India” on 29th August 2025. The event witnessed the presence of Justice Sanjay Karol, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice, Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Vivek Agarwal, Judge, Madhya Pradesh High Court, and Shri Siddharth R. Gupta, Advocate, Supreme Court of India.
The programme was organised under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar, with Shri Shashank Pathak, Assistant Professor of Law, serving as the Event Coordinator.
Justice Sanjay Karol, Chief Guest of the event, delivered the keynote address. In his lecture, He highlighted the evolution and resilience of the Indian Constitution over the past 75 years, and underscored the role of youth in strengthening democratic practices through civic participation, public discourse, and institutional engagement. He emphasized the relevance of the Constitution in safeguarding democracy, fundamental rights, and human dignity. Urging the younger generation to move beyond mere awareness, he called upon them to translate constitutional values into action in their daily lives, thereby reinforcing the democratic fabric of the nation.
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, in his address, emphasized the need for youth to bridge the gap between constitutional awareness and grassroots action—through legal aid, public interest advocacy, and civic education. He underlined the role of judicial institutions in upholding the Constitution and the importance of nurturing a constitutional culture among young citizens. He stressed that students of law and the youth at large must become participants in preserving constitutional morality and in advancing the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, delivered the welcome address and expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests for their gracious presence. He highlighted the significance of the lecture in inspiring young minds to embrace constitutional values and reaffirmed the University's commitment to fostering academic excellence and civic responsibility.
Shri Siddharth R. Gupta, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, addressed the gathering and highlighted the role of youth as agents of change. He emphasized that the future of the Constitution depends on the commitment of young minds to uphold its spirit, reminding them that constitutional responsibility is both a right and a duty.
Shri Shashank Pathak, Assistant Professor of Law delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the guests, dignitaries, faculty, and students for organising the programme.
During the event blog by the Centre for Corporate Laws and Governance (CCLG), DNLU headed by Dr. Shruti Nandwana was also inaugurated. The blog marked the beginning of a platform to share knowledge, insights, and research in the field of corporate laws. Ms. Swati Singh Parmar, Assistant Professor of Law moderated the event.
