Osmania University Appoints Prof. N. Venkateshwarlu As Dean, Faculty Of Law
Osmania University has appointed Prof. N. Venkateshwarlu, Department of Law, University College of Law, as the new Dean, Faculty of Law. The appointment, made by the Vice-Chancellor in anticipation of the Executive Council's approval, will be effective for a period of two years.
Prof. Venkateshwarlu succeeds Prof. B. Vijayalaxmi, who previously served as Dean, Faculty of Law. As part of his appointment, he will receive a conveyance allowance of ₹1,000 per month under the provision of “Academic Income.”
Born on 12 October 1968 in Deverkonda, Nalgonda District, Telangana, he studied commerce at Nalgonda before completing his LL.B., LL.M., and Ph.D. in Law at Osmania University. He qualified the UGC-NET and began teaching in 1998, later becoming Assistant Professor of Law at University College of Law, Osmania University.
He has supervised 19 Ph.D. theses (with 6 more in progress), over 400 LL.M. dissertations, and around 350 PG Diploma dissertations. His academic work includes publications at national and international levels, as well as authoring and co-authoring books. He received the UGC Research Award and the Osmania University Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Research (2021).
He has served as examiner for professional and public institutions such as ICSI, ICAI, Andhra University, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Law University. His administrative roles have included Director, Legal Cell; Incharge Director, Estate Cell; Additional Controller of Examinations; and Chairman, Board of Studies. He has also organised and participated in numerous national and international seminars, conferences, and faculty development programmes.
