Centre For Law & Economics, Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur Organised A One - Day National Workshop On “From Idea To Publication: A Practical Guide To Writing Research Papers”

The Centre for Law & Economics, Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur successfully organized a one-day National Workshop on “From Idea to Publication: A Practical Guide to Writing Research Papers” on 11th October 2025. The workshop was conducted virtually under the guidance and leadership of Prof. Dr. Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar, and Dr. Isha Wadhwa, Director of the Centre for Law & Economics, DNLU, Jabalpur.

The primary objective of the workshop was to acquaint students and young researchers with the essential stages of academic research—from conceptualizing an idea to designing, structuring, and publishing a research paper. The event aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application in academic writing, while encouraging an interdisciplinary approach to law and economics.

The day-long workshop featured seven sessions, including the Inaugural and Welcome Addresses delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha and Dr. Praveen Tripathi. It also included insightful technical sessions led by distinguished academicians and researchers from reputed national law universities and institutions. The Keynote Address and first technical session were delivered by Dr. Hitesh Kumar Thakkar, Director of the Centre for Empirical & Applied Research in Law & Interdisciplinary Studies (CEARLIS) and Assistant Professor of Economics, GNLU, Gandhinagar, on the theme “Developing Phenomenal, Conceptual, and Measurement Frameworks for Law and Economics through Evidence-Based Interdisciplinary Research.”

The subsequent sessions featured enriching deliberations by eminent speakers, including Dr. Malabika Pal, Associate Professor of Economics at Miranda House, University of Delhi, who spoke on “The Choice of a Research Question: Using the Methodology of the Economic Analysis of Law” and offered participants practical insights into selecting and refining research questions that are both meaningful and methodologically sound. Mr. Utkarsh Kumar Mishra, Director of the Centre for Studies in International Trade and International Investment Laws (CITIL) and Assistant Professor of Law, DNLU, Jabalpur, discussed innovation and interdisciplinary approaches in legal research, highlighting the importance of literature review in the research process. Dr. Shivani Mohan, Director of the Centre for Law & Economics and Assistant Professor of Economics, CNLU, Patna, addressed “Framing the Relationship between Law and Economics: A Hypothesis Development Approach” and guided participants on structuring hypotheses and theoretical frameworks for impactful research.

Further sessions included Dr. Chitra Saruparia, Selection Grade Professor and Executive Director of the Centre for Economics, Law & Public Policy, NLUJ, Jodhpur, who spoke on “Use of AI in Law and Economics Research: New Tools, New Questions” and provided insights into leveraging emerging technologies to enhance research analysis and methodology. Dr. Seema Shrivastava, Director of the Centre for Law & Economics and Assistant Professor of Economics, NLIU, Bhopal, highlighted effective strategies for structuring research papers and navigating the publication process, offering practical tips for aspiring authors. Dr. Shweta Mohan, Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) of Economics, NUSRL, Ranchi, addressed “Use of Statistics in Research Writing”, demonstrating how statistical tools and quantitative methods can strengthen the rigor and credibility of scholarly work. Collectively, the sessions explored diverse themes, including the intersection of law and economics, the use of artificial intelligence in research, the application of statistical tools in academic writing, and approaches to developing robust research hypotheses.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 120 students, scholars, and faculty members from within and beyond the University.
