The Certificate Course on "Evolving Standards of Content Regulation in India," held at NLIU Bhopal in collaboration with NLIU - Cell for Law and Technology and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.marked a key step toward advancing academic and professional engagement with Indian content regulation law.
Seventy-seven students joined hybrid sessions on September 27, 2025, led in person by Ms. Ritika Bansal (Associate, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.) and virtually by Mr. Shashank Mishra (Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.). The course mixed academic analysis with practitioner views, encouraging strong dialogue between students, faculty, and law professionals.
The sessions provided a detailed look at key statutes and judicial frameworks in Indian content regulation. Discussions centered on landmark Supreme Court cases like Shreya Singhal v. Union of India and Anuradha Bhasin v. Union of India, as well as laws such as the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, the Information Technology Act and Rules, the Cinematograph Act, and changing rules for digital media and OTT platforms. The case-based, interactive approach helped students rigorously explore current legal problems and build nuanced views on today's digital issues
Further distinguishing the course, meritorious students were awarded internship opportunities with Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., connecting academic achievement with real-world legal practice.
