Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, has earned a global distinction by securing the 46th position worldwide in the 2025 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) under Category B1: Visionary Leadership.

This recognition, officially announced on 10 July 2025, reaffirms HNLU's growing international profile as a institution committed to forward-looking legal education, institutional innovation, and leadership.

The 2025 WURI Rankings evaluated 4,866 innovation case submissions from 1,350 universities across the globe. These entries were assessed by 203 academic leaders representing diverse regions, based on parameters of innovativeness, implementability, and societal impact. The rankings witnessed a 70% increase in global participation from the previous year, making HNLU's achievement noteworthy.

Commenting on the milestone, Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of HNLU, remarked:

“The launch of the R-HaS (Research Hub and Spoke) initiative in 2023—with five Research Schools and 25 interdisciplinary Research Centres—has begun to bear fruit, with faculty and students securing significant research projects. This global recognition by WURI will serve as a catalyst for accelerating the deliverables and long-term vision of R-HaS.”

Organized by IPS Switzerland, the WURI Rankings are supported by the Hanseatic League of Universities and sponsored by iSTAT. Unlike conventional university rankings, WURI emphasizes real-world value creation, celebrating institutions that adopt bold, creative, and socially responsive educational models.

This global recognition positions HNLU among a cohort of universities redefining leadership and innovation in higher education worldwide.
