HNLU, Raipur Celebrates 25 Years Of Chhattisgarh With Books, Art, And Culture
Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur commemorated the 25th Foundation Day of Chhattisgarh with a week-long celebration that brought together art, literature, culture, and community. The festivities began with a special Books and Art Exhibition at the University Library and culminated in a cultural event titled “CG@25”, reflecting the State's rich heritage and progressive journey.
Organised jointly by the Student Bar Association's Learning Resources Committee (LRC) and the Cultural Committee of HNLU, the celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff in honour of Chhattisgarh Rajyotsav.
Books and Art Exhibition Showcases the Heritage of Chhattisgarh
The Books and Art Exhibition, held on November 1, served as a platform to connect the University community with the cultural essence of Chhattisgarh. The event, guided by Prof. (Dr.) Vishnu Konoorayar, Faculty Convener, LRC, featured paintings by local artists depicting the tribal heritage and cultural diversity of the State. A curated collection of books explored themes such as regional cuisines, customs, and festivals including Bastar Dussehra.
The exhibition was made possible through collaboration with the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI), Nava Raipur.
The event was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) V. C. Vivekanandan, Registrar Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, and faculty members.
Prof. (Dr.) V. C. Vivekanandan appreciated the initiative as a meaningful effort to celebrate Chhattisgarh's cultural identity within an academic space. He remarked that such events foster a sense of belonging and awareness of local traditions among students. Faculty members also shared their experiences and reflections on the State's heritage, adding to the cultural discourse.
Students participated in large numbers, describing the exhibition as an inspiring and educational experience that deepened their appreciation for Chhattisgarh's history and art. The event marked the first time that a cultural exhibition of this kind was hosted in the University Library to commemorate Chhattisgarh Foundation Day.
“CG@25” – Cultural Celebrations at HNLU
Continuing the Rajyotsav festivities, HNLU hosted a special cultural evening titled “CG@25” on November 2, 2025. The programme was inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Dr. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Registrar, HNLU, who reflected on the State's 25-year journey and the University's growth alongside it. “Chhattisgarh feels like home, occupying a special place in the hearts of its residents,” he remarked.
Dr. Ankit Singh, Faculty Convener of the Cultural Committee, highlighted the natural beauty and warmth of Naya Raipur and the welcoming spirit of HNLU.
The event featured a lively mix of performances and literary expressions. The student group “More Maati ke Rang” presented a traditional dance performance showcasing the folk heritage of the State. The Legal Aid and Social Services Committee, under Dr. Kaumudi Challa, performed a powerful skit titled “Sannata Ghar Ka”, addressing the pressing social issues of domestic violence and substance abuse.
Adding to the literary flair, Nomesh Rawte, a student of HNLU, recited his original poem “Chhattisgariya Sable Badiya”, capturing the pride and vibrancy of Chhattisgarh. The Literary and Debating Committee engaged the audience with an interactive quiz “Rajyotsav”, exploring facts about the eight Indian states that share November 1 as their foundation day.
The celebrations concluded with an address by Mr. Ashutosh Aahire, who emphasized the importance of cultural awareness, inclusivity, and pride in regional identity among students.

Through these initiatives, HNLU reaffirmed its commitment to fostering academic excellence enriched with cultural consciousness. The dual celebrations – the Books and Art Exhibition and “CG@25” Cultural Evening – served as a tribute to Chhattisgarh's 25-year journey of progress, resilience, and heritage, while inspiring students to embrace the cultural legacy of their State.
