The Secretary of Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) has asked the Delhi Bar Association to identify lawyers who were seen beating a common man in Tis Hazari Courts in a video that went viral on social media.

In a letter issued on September 15, BCD Secretary has said that it was brought to the notice of the lawyers' body's Chairman that a common man was manhandled by a group of advocates which was seen in the viral video.

“Your goodself would appreciate that this conduct of the advocates is not becoming of an Advocate and does not have any authority or permission to take law into their own hands,” the letter states.

It added that the BCD Chairman has asked the President of Delhi Bar Association and other office bearers to make sincere efforts to identify and verify the advocates, who were indulged in the act.

Calling the action “inhumane and barbarous”, the letter states:

“You are requested to kindly send us a detailed report in this regard. An early action in this regard would be highly solicited.”
