The District Court complex in Anantnag was inundated with floodwater on Tuesday, raising grave concerns over the preservation of vital judicial records.

The District & Sessions Judge Mr. Tahir Khurshid Raina visited the spot to supervise the shifting of case files and court records from the ground floor to safer locations. Before arriving himself, the District Judge had already dispatched a team of court officials to secure the records.

Judge Raina, accompanied by Chief Judicial Magistrate Mr. Firoz Ahmed Khan, navigated the flooded premises in a rubber boat to oversee the rescue operation.

Speaking on the occasion, Judge Raina emphasised, “This was done so that access to justice remains open. Preservation of records is the very basis for ensuring continued service to the people.”

The District Judge also communicated with the District Development Commissioner regarding safety measures for the court records and further steps for damage prevention.

The proactive intervention by the judicial officers ensured that critical case files and court documents were safeguarded despite the natural calamity.
