A Kerala Court has acquitted Malayalam film actor Shine Tom Chacko and six others in an NDPS Case of 2015.
The order was issued by the First Additional District and Sessions Judge of Ernakulam.
As per the allegations, the actor and others were caught by the police in a search conducted in an apartment in Kadavanthara based on secret information that a smoke party was taking place. The alleged incident took place on January 30, 2015. The prosecution allegation was that the actor and others were smoking cigarettes smeared with cocaine and other narcotic substances.
The crime was registered against the actor and others at Kadavanthara Police Station alleging Sections 21 (b) (punishment for contravention in relation to manufactured drugs and preparations), 27 (a)(punishment for consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance) and 29 (punishment for abetment and criminal conspiracy) of the NDPS Act. Actor Shine Tom was arrayed as the third accused.
The accused faced trial and were acquitted under Section 235 of the CrPC.
