NLUO Holds One-Day Consultation Program On 'Addressing Domestic Violence Through One Stop Centres'
The National Law University Odisha, Cuttack recently organised a one-day consultation meeting with One Stop Centres (OSCs) from 15 districts of Odisha and selected Civil Society Organisations under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Rangin Pallav Tripathy, Registrar, NLUO and Dr. Suman Dash Bhattamishra, Associate Professor, NLUO.
The event brought together Staff of OSCs from 15 districts of Odisha viz. Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Jagatsinghpur, and Bhadrak and representatives from certain NGOs.
The programme was held as a part of an ongoing research initiative titled “Addressing Domestic Violence in Odisha Through Institutionalised Domestic Violence Response Protocol” which is being conducted by NLUO in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The meeting, spanning across four intense sessions, emphasized on the pivotal role of OSCs in providing integrated support to the victims of domestic violence. It offered a platform for front-line workers and stakeholders to share ground-level experiences, challenges, and best practices in handling situations of domestic violence.
It also facilitated the congregation of senior and reputed representatives of civil society organisations to suggest ways and means by which OSCs can be further strengthened to tackle medical, legal and social issues of victims of domestic violence.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Manmeet Singh Arora, Mr. Raj Kishore Panda, Ms. Tanmaya Das, Mr. Amlanjyoti Rout, and Mr. Sudhanshu Bhusan Maharana with rapporteur support from Auroshikha Mohanty, Kumar Aghna Mukherjee and Anwesh Sarangi, Ph.D. Research Scholars.
