The Supreme Court today welcomed the Chief Justice of the Australian High Court, Justice Stephen Gageler, who witnessed the proceedings today as a special invitee.

In the morning session, Justice Gageler joined the bench of CJI BR Gavai and Justices K Vinod Chandran and NV Anjaria as an observer judge.

Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, welcoming Justice Gageler, said that his present visit was too short to explore a beautiful country like India.

Sr Advocate Mukul Rohatgi also added that back in 2015, when he was the Attorney General of India, he visited the Australian High Court.

CJI mentioned that even the SG was present at that visit. At that time, Justice Gageler was serving as the Solicitor General of Australia. The CJI also mentioned that Justice Gageler, though on a short trip, explored the Delhi cuisine, including the famous Delhi Chaat.

Justice Gageler is on an official visit to India to participate in the ongoing "Delhi Arbitration Weekend".
