After Delhi High Court Warns Of Contempt Action, Ramdev Agrees To Delete Objectionable Video Against Roohafza

After the Delhi High Court's warning of initiating contempt action, Baba Ramdev on Thursday agreed to delete a video containing objectionable content against Hamdard National Foundation India's Rooh Afza product.

Earlier in the day, Justice Amit Bansal was irked over another video of the yoga guru making objectionable remarks against Rooh Afza, despite a previous order of the Court restraining him from making any statements, advertisements or social media posts against Hamdard.

Stating that Ramdev was prima facie in contempt, the Court had called for his appearance.

In the post lunch session, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar appeared for Ramdev and Patanjali and submitted, on instructions, that the offending portion of the impugned video will be taken down within 24 hours from all social media platforms as well as on any other media where it has been posted.

Following which, the Court directed Ramdev and Patanjali to take down the offending portion and listed Hamdard's application seeking ad interim injunction for tomorrow.

The development comes in Hamdard's suit against Patanjali and Ramdev over Yoga guru's “Sharbat Jihad” remark against the company's Rooh Afza product.

Earlier this month, Ramdev, while promoting Patanjali's rose sharbat, claimed that the money earned from Hamdard's rooh afza is used to build madrasas and mosques. Later, Ramdev defended his remark and said that he did not name any brand or community.

Hamdard filed the suit against Ramdev seeking removal of the Yoga Guru's videos on the remark from social media.

Previously, Justice Bansal rapped Ramdev over his remarks against Rooh Afza, saying that it shocked its conscience and was indefensible.
