Lucknow, August 16, 2025: Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow, hosted the AmiQuiz Curiae – Student Edition Law Quiz on 16th August, 2025, as part of the nationwide legal knowledge initiative. The event was organised with QShala as Quiz Partner, LiveLaw as Media Partner and RMLNLU as Zonal Partner.
The quiz is sponsored by the following senior advocates of the country Arvind Datar, Chander Uday Singh, Dama Seshadri Naidu, Huzefa Ahmadi, Jaideep Gupta, Madhavi Divan, Meenakshi Arora, Nakul Dewan, Raju Ramachandran, Rana Mukherjee, Rebecca John, Sanjay Hegde, Siddharth Luthra, and S. Muralidhar.
The competition opened with a preliminary round featuring questions on national issues, landmark judgments, constitutional history, trademark law, and fundamental legal documents. Six teams from RMLNLU, Lucknow University, Integral University and Jamia Millia Islamia qualified for the finals. The final rounds, conducted in an infinite bounce format, covered topics ranging from recent legal developments in the field of artificial intelligence, tariffs to the Shah Bano case
The team of Ashish Chauhan, Daksh Arora, and Raja Pathak from RMLNLU emerged as winners, securing the ₹9,000 cash prize, certificates, and goodie bags. The first and second runners-up, also from RMLNLU, received ₹6,000 and ₹3,000, respectively. All participants were presented with goodie bags.
The competition was graced by the remarks of Prof. Manish Singh, Head of Department (Law), where he reflected on how law is not merely confined to reading books or applying abstract principles but is an experience that extends beyond texts. He underlined the importance of bringing the law into spaces where common people can understand it and where real issues can be addressed.
Delivering the valedictory address, Dr. S. Muralidhar, Senior Advocate and former Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court, commended the attentiveness of the participants, observing that not a single person reached for their phones during the sessions. He emphasized that the true purpose of such initiatives lies not merely in securing victory but in fostering learning — something he himself experienced through the event.
Dr. Muralidhar urged participants to cultivate the habit of regularly reading newspapers and journals, and to stay abreast of developments across diverse fields. He highlighted that the ability to read, write, assimilate knowledge, and articulate it effectively is an essential skill — and a lifelong pursuit.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amarpal Singh emphasised the need for broader engagement with law, urging that legal knowledge should extend beyond texts and into everyday conversations.
The quiz highlighted the role of interactive platforms in fostering constitutional awareness and legal learning among students.
