Chief Justice Of India To Inaugurate Kolhapur Circuit Bench Of Bombay High Court

A significant milestone for the judiciary in the region, the Circuit Bench of the High Court of Bombay at Kolhapur is set to be inaugurated on Sunday, 17th August 2025, at 3:30 P.M. The inaugural function will be officiated by Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, the Chief Justice of India.

The establishment of this bench addresses the long-felt and urgent need to make justice more accessible for the litigants of Kolhapur and its surrounding districts. For years, litigants have faced the considerable burden of traveling to the principal bench in Mumbai. This new Circuit Bench is expected to alleviate financial hardships and aims to ensure the quicker disposal of cases by distributing the caseload.

The occasion will be graced by the presence of top state dignitaries. Mr. Devendra Gangadhar Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, along with Mr. Eknath Sambhaji Shinde and Mr. Ajit Anant Pawar, Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, will attend as Chief Guests. Justice Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay, will also be a Chief Guest.

The Guest of Honour for the event will be Mr. Prakash Abitkar, the Guardian Minister of Kolhapur and Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare.

The function will be presided over by Justice Makarand Subhash Karnik of the High Court of Judicature at Bombay.

The day's events are scheduled across two venues. The formal inauguration ceremony will be held Opposite Chhatrapati Pramilaraje Hospital on Bhausinghaji Road, Dasera Chowk, Kolhapur. The subsequent programme will take place at the Merry Weather Ground, Nagala Park, Kolhapur.
