In a confluence of intellect, legal ingenuity and advocacy, Nyaya Shastra, the fast-emerging law community, established with focus on enhancing legal education through competitions, resources and internships for law students; advocacy for social awareness, human rights and promoting research on legal developments to foster informed engagement in the legal field, has successfully hosted its 3-Day 1st Nyaya Shastra Virtual Moot Court Competition from 25th April to 27th April 2025, with Live Law as the Media Partner and Legal Eagle as the Finance Partner. The event brought together some of the brightest legal minds from across the country in a compelling showcase of courtroom advocacy, legal research, and oral argumentation. With participation of over 50 esteemed law institutions all across the country, this three-day extravaganza transcended traditional boundaries, offering participants an immersive experience into the intricacies of Criminal Law. The moot problem, rooted in contemporary criminal dilemmas and peppered with nuanced legal complexities, challenged participants to think critically, argue persuasively and advocate passionately.

The competition witnessed an exceptional display of zeal and spirited rivalry among the participating contingents. Each team availed a distinguished platform to exhibit their profound legal intellect and refined advocacy prowess within a meticulously structured virtual courtroom environment. Demonstrating remarkable adaptability to the nuances of online moot court proceedings, the participants navigated through intense rounds of argumentation and judicial scrutiny. Following a rigorous evaluation in the preliminary stages, the results were declared, and out of 67 commendable teams, the top 16 teams emerged triumphant, securing their positions in the Octa-Final Rounds. The following teams qualified for Octa-Final Round - NSMC 18, NSMC 21, NSMC 22, NSMC 25, NSMC 27, NSMC 29, NSMC 30, NSMC 31, NSMC 34, NSMC 39, NSMC 45, NSMC 46, NSMC 48, NSMC 49, NSMC 65 and NSMC 66. The Preliminary Rounds of the 1st Nyaya Shastra Virtual Moot Court Competition were graced by a panel of judges comprising seasoned legal professionals and scholars from across the country. The panel included Adv. Nand Kumar and Adv. Divya Saini from the Delhi High Court; Adv. Aakarshan Mehra; Adv. Zeenia S., a qualified mediator and former Assistant Professor; Adv. Aditya Dubey, Adv. Priya Kumari, Adv. Amit Raj, and Adv. Anjali Swani from the Jharkhand High Court; Adv. Kumari Tannu, Associate at White Eagle Law Chambers; Adv. Amit Kumar, Advocate at Patna High Court; Adv. Nikhil Gupta, Senior Partner in Chambers of ANG; and Adv. Shreyansi Singh from the High Court of Allahabad. Also among the esteemed judges were Prasanth D., Senior Editor of the Indian Constitutional Law Review Quarterly (ICLRQ) Journal; Adv. Shubhi Gangele; Adv. Ayushman Mishra, Supreme Court Advocate; Adv. Divya Narain, a practicing advocate, mediator, and Partner at Narain Associates; Adv. Abhinaw Mishra; Adv. Reena Yadav, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel; Advocate Mayank Madhu, Senior Associate in the Office of the Standing Counsel, Government of NCT of Delhi; Adv. Naveen Sarswat; Adv. Ashish Kumar Rai, Supreme Court of India; Adv. Anchal Chaudharry; and Adv. Shatakshi Pandey from the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Bench at Lucknow. Their invaluable insights and adjudicatory expertise greatly enriched the competition, providing participants with a robust platform for legal discourse and growth. A total of 11 benches were constituted comprising 2 judges in each bench and one Court Master. The following assisted the smooth conduction of the Preliminary Rounds as the Court Masters Miss Pranavi Choubey, Miss Sohani Singh, Miss Ritika Riddhi, Miss Sumedha Kumari, Mr. Chaitanya Raman, Mr. Akarsh Ranjan, Miss Shambhavi Shrotriya, Mr. Aryan Kumar Pandey, Miss Satya Patel, Miss Khushboo Choubey and Miss Niharika Prajapati.

The Octa-Final rounds were marked by fervent legal discourse and exemplary advocacy, as the competing teams adeptly maneuvered through intricate legal conundrums and articulated persuasive arguments before the adjudicators. With a strict timeframe allocated to each team, participants exhibited remarkable eloquence, analytical acuity, and a commanding grasp of legal principles, all while navigating the pressures of time-bound litigation. The following 4 teams qualified for the the Semi-Final Rounds - NSMC 21, NSMC 25, NSMC 46 and NSMC 31. The Octa-Final Rounds of the 1st Nyaya Shastra Virtual Moot Court Competition were presided over by a distinguished panel of legal professionals and academicians who brought their profound expertise and diverse experiences to the adjudication process. The panel included Dr. Pragnya S. Patil, Principal of K. H. Patil School of Law, Bengaluru; Adv. Prince Pandey from the Punjab and Haryana High Court; Adv. Nand Kumar of the Delhi High Court; Adv. Akarshan Mehra; Adv. Shubhi Gangele; and Adv. Amit Raj, also representing the Jharkhand High Court. Additionally, Miss Aakanksha Singh, Executive Legal & Compliance at Utkarsh Small Finance Bank Ltd., contributed her corporate legal acumen to the panel. Their collective insights and rigorous evaluation ensured that the rounds upheld the highest standards of legal debate and advocacy. In Octa-Final Rounds Miss Pranavi Choubey, Miss Sohani Singh Miss Ritika Riddhi and Miss Sumedha Kumari contributed as the Court Masters.

In Semi-Final Rounds, the top four teams, having emerged victorious from the Octa-Final Rounds, exhibited exceptional prowess in legal advocacy. The Semi-Finals culminated in the selection of the two most outstanding teams, whose superior analytical acumen and oratorical finesse earned them a coveted place in the highly anticipated final round. The following teams qualified for the Final Round - NSMC 21 and NSMC 25. The Semi-Final Rounds of the 1st Nyaya Shastra Virtual Moot Court Competition were adjudicated by an esteemed panel of judges, each bringing a wealth of legal knowledge and professional experience to the bench. The panel featured Dr. Pragnya S. Patil, Principal of K. H. Patil School of Law, Bengaluru, whose academic leadership added great depth to the evaluation process; Adv. Aditya Dubey and Adv. Maharani V. Bhamini from the Jharkhand High Court, both known for their insightful legal perspectives; and Adv. Nand Kumar from the Delhi High Court, whose expertise in litigation enriched the quality of the proceedings. Their discerning judgment and constructive feedback significantly contributed to the intellectual rigor and fairness of the semi-final rounds. Miss Pranavi Choubey and Miss Sohani Singh assisted as the Court Masters in Semi-Final Rounds.

The Final Round of the competition, marking ultimate face-off between the top two teams, NSMC 21 and NSMC 25, which took place on 27th April 2025. This momentous event stood as the culmination of relentless effort, unwavering dedication, profound legal acumen, and the pinnacle of appellate advocacy excellence. The Final Round of the 1st Nyaya Shastra Virtual Moot Court Competition was presided over by a distinguished bench comprising highly accomplished members of the legal fraternity. The judging panel included Advocate-on-Record KV Muthu Kumar from the Supreme Court of India, whose extensive experience in constitutional and appellate litigation brought immense value to the proceedings; Adv. Trishi Pandey from the Jharkhand High Court, known for her sharp legal insight and advocacy; and Adv. Tanoj Joshi from the Bombay High Court, who added depth with his nuanced understanding of complex legal issues. Their incisive questioning and thorough evaluation ensured that the final round upheld the highest standards of legal excellence and competitive integrity. Miss Pranavi Choubey assisted as Court Master in the Final Round.

The Valedictory Ceremony of the 1st Nyaya Shastra Virtual Moot Court Competition was a grand and memorable conclusion to an enriching legal journey, graced by the esteemed presence of Advocate-on-Record KV Muthu Kumar from the Supreme Court of India, who served as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by the founder of Nyaya Shastra, Mr. Vishwajeet Kumar Tiwari, Miss Ritika Anand, co-founder of Legal Eagle, along with all the judges and enthusiastic participants who had contributed to the success of the competition. The ceremony featured inspiring addresses by the Chief Guest, the Founder, and Dr. Pragnya S. Patil—Principal of K.H. Patil School of Law, Bengaluru—who not only delivered a powerful speech but had also played a key role in training participants through a dedicated workshop. Additional remarks were shared by Adv. Trishi Pandey, Adv. Tanoj Joshi, and Adv. Samhita Banerjee, who meticulously evaluated the moot memorials. The event celebrated excellence with Team NSMC-21 securing the First Prize of ₹11,000, followed by Team NSMC-25 as Runners-Up with a prize of ₹7,000. Team NSMC-18 was honored with the Best Memorial Award, while the Best Speaker accolade was awarded to Miss Irine Elsa Cherian from Team NSMC-21.
