RGNUL Hosts 13th National Moot Court Competition With Pan-India Participation

The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab organised the 13th RGNUL National Moot Court Competition on 19-20April, 2025.Two-day Moot Court Competition witnessed participation from 22 teams from reputed universities like NLSIU Bengaluru, NLU Delhi, NLU Jodhpur, NLU Odisha and JGLS Sonepat amongst several others across the country. Semi-final rounds scheduled on 19 April, 2025 witnessed participation from National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, National Law University, Jodhpur, Jindal Global Law School, Sonepat, and Institute of Law, Nirma University which were presided by distinguished advocates and experienced academicians including Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Ranga, Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur and Dr. Rajat Dixit. The final rounds included teams from Institute of Law, Nirma University and Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat wherein Institute of Law, Nirma University were adjudged as Winners and Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat were the Runners-Up. The award for the Best Speaker for the preliminary rounds was presented to Uday Suravaram from National Law School of India University, Bengaluru and the award for the Best Memorial was presented to National Law University, Odisha. The competition was a collaborative effort which witnessed participation of the entire student community at RGNUL, Punjab.

On 20 April, 2025, the final rounds was presided over by the Chief Guest of the day Dr. Mandeep Mittal, Additional District Judge, Chandigarh, Prof. (Dr.) Anu Mehra, Distinguished Professor at Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and Sr. Adv. Amarjit Khurana, Punjab and Haryana High Court.Dr. Mandeep Mittal, Additional District Judge, Chandigarh observed the significance of mooting while highlighting the need to study potential constitutional reforms vis-à-vis the Indian criminal jurisprudence. Prof. (Dr.) Anu Mehra, motivated the teams with her words, which were akin to a toolkit to prepare for future national and international moot court competitions. Sr. Adv. Amarjit Khurana reflected on her personal journey as a law student, underscoring the value of early exposure to mooting.


Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jai S. Singh welcomed the moot court competition judges at the valedictory ceremony. Further, he inspired and motivated the young legal professionals to demonstrate their advocacy skills and legal acumen with his words of wisdom. Dr. Ivneet Walia, Registrar (Officiating) also appreciated the participants for their dedication and spirited participation throughout the event.

Members of the Moot Court Committee led by Faculty Coordinator Dr. Jaswinder Kauralso appreciated the student members of the committee for their hard work and dedication in making this event an overall success. Faculty members including Dr. Shiva Satish Sharda, Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Dr.Basant Singh, Mr. Siddhartha Fuller, Mr. Anubhav Kumar, Dr. Ishita Sharma graced the occasion.
