RPNLU Prayagraj Concludes Student Induction Week With A Valedictory Session

Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU), Prayagraj, concluded its week long Student Induction Programme with a grand Valedictory Session on August 6, 2025. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Justice Rajendra Menon, Chairperson of the Armed Forces Tribunal and former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. (Dr.) Anju Vali Tikoo, Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, as the Guest of Honour.

The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp. Vice Chancellor, Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon, welcomed the dignitaries and the new batch of students. In her address, she reflected on the landscape of legal education, acknowledging the presence of women in the incoming batch. She encouraged students to see law as an instrument of social transformation and emphasized the values of discipline, awareness, and presence of mind essential for a successful legal career. Prof. Tandon also noted the high percentage of girls in the new batch, calling it a “powerful testament to the evolving landscape of legal education”, and expressed confidence that the future of the legal profession lies in the hands of sincere and value-driven youth. As the first woman founding Vice Chancellor of the university, her words carried both vision and conviction.


Justice Rajendra Menon, chief guest of the session, delivered an address, reflecting on the growth in women's participation in the legal profession and encouraging students to be lifelong learners. Justice Menon spoke with conviction about the transformation of the legal profession, particularly the increasing participation of women. Recalling his own time as a law student—when there were only two women in his class—he expressed pride in the strides made in recent decades.

Drawing from his own journey and experiences, he reminded students that success in law comes with commitment, perseverance, and an dedication to justice. He underscored the importance of reading, understanding case facts, and developing sound judgment. Addressing the students as future custodians of justice, he advised them to embrace a mindset of continuous learning, stating that "learning never ends in the legal profession."

Prof. (Dr.) Anju Vali Tikoo admired the university's commitment to nurturing future legal professionals. In her address, she invoked the inspiring life of Dr. Rajendra Prasad and urged students to embody values of justice, social sensitivity, and humanity. Calling Sangam City a confluence not only of rivers but of aspirations and changemakers, she emphasized the university's role in shaping future leaders.


Assistant Professor Dr. Neha Dubey presented an overview of the orientation programme, which included faculty-student interactions, library familiarization, outreach visits, wellness sessions, and society orientations—each designed to prepare students for their academic journey at RPNLU. The week long Student Induction Programme at Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj, included a range of academic, cultural, and developmental activities. Students were engaged in faculty interactions, library orientation, outreach visits to historical and judicial sites, cognitive enrichment sessions, and mental wellness workshops. They were also introduced to various student societies such as Moot Court, Legal Aid, and Debate Committees. These activities aimed to build confidence, foster discipline, and provide an understanding of the university's ethos. The programme concluded with a valedictory session addressed by dignitaries, inspiring students for their academic and professional journey ahead.

The session concluded with a t vote of thanks by Prof. Deepak Sharma, Head of the Department of Law, who acknowledged the presence and contributions of the guests and commended the new batch of students for their enthusiasm and promise.

This valedictory session served as a beginning to a journey in law for the students, reinforcing RPNLU's commitment to legal education.
