A criminal complaint has been filed before a Court in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya District against Folk singer Neha Singh Rathore over her alleged 'seditious' posts on social media concerning the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

The complaint, filed under Section 210 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) by one Shivendra Singh, through Advocate Martand Pratap Singh, claims that Rathore has 'falsely' linked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to the recent Pahalgam terror attack to incite public unrest and gain electoral advantage.

“…Neha Singh Rathore is a habitual YouTuber known for spreading anarchy and social unrest through social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Her gang includes, directly or indirectly and behind the scenes, several high-level white-collar individuals, politicians, and mafia elements who support her in inciting public unrest. In continuation of her pattern of spreading social chaos through social media, over the past two to three days, she has falsely accused the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and Hon'ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, who are top-level leaders of the ruling party, of being involved in the recent sensitive terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, with the malicious intent of inciting social unrest and unlawfully gaining electoral advantage,” the complaint reads [translated from Hindi to English]

The complaint further alleges that Rathore's false and illegal remarks have created nationwide unrest, which has pushed the country towards a civil war and that her acts amount to sedition and constitute a cognizable offence.

It adds that Rathore's 'indecent' and 'derogatory' remarks have maligned the image of ruling BJP leaders and that she is falsely propagating that the BJP is responsible for most terrorist attacks in the country.

Significantly, the complaint also refers to a post on platform 'X' by Pakistan's former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party, claiming that PTI has shared Rathore's video, and that the same has stated that the Modi government would exploit the Pahalgam terror incident for electoral gains in Bihar.

The complaint argues that this endorsement of Rathore's video by PTI establishes Rathore's connection with anti-national elements, traitors, and terrorist networks.

Against the backdrop of these assertions, the complainant has prayed that a complaint against her and unidentified members of her gang under relevant sections be registered, and all of them be summoned as accused to face trial so that they “can't continue inciting social unrest, directly or indirectly support terrorist activities, endanger public safety, or harm the dignity of high-ranking individuals

It may be noted that Rathore is already facing an FIR on multiple charges under the BNS in Lucknow based on a complaint that her 'provocative' social media posts targeting a particular community concerning the Pahalgam Terror attack could harm the nation's unity.
