In a shocking development, an experienced lawyer as well as a senior member of the Odisha State Bar Council (OSBC), Advocate Pitabash Panda was shot dead on Monday (October 06). The unfortunate incident took place when Panda was standing by a road near his house at around 10 PM.
Reportedly, two miscreants fired at him from a close range causing fatal injuries. Though he was immediately rushed to the Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) Hospital, the attending doctor declared him brought-dead.
The exact reason behind the murder is yet to be unveiled. The police has started investigation to nab the assailants involved in the crime. Apart from being a seasoned lawyer from the city, Panda was also a prominent RTI activist and a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
