A special court in Bengaluru on Friday issued summons to former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and three other accused and directed their presence before the court on March 15, in connection with a case registered under Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The High Court had recently, while setting aside the earlier cognizance order, directed the special court to pass an order afresh. Following which the court took fresh cognisance of a charge sheet filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and passed necessary orders.

As per the complaint filed by the mother (complainant) of a 17-year-old girl, Yediyurappa sexually assaulted her daughter during a meeting in February last year, at his residence in Bengaluru. On March 14, 2024 the Sadashivanagar police had registered the case. Later, it was transferred to CID for further investigation which re-registered the FIR and filed a chargesheet.
