The 6th International Summer School on Mediation is being hosted by NIVAARAN (Mediators of the Supreme Court of India) from 31st July to 11th August 2025 for a period of 12 days. This 12-Day Online event will be hosted with support of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA) & Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC). It will begin with an Opening Ceremony on the 1st Day (31st July) and end with a Closing Ceremony on the 12th Day (11th August).

Details of the Event

From the 1st to 10th August, 2025 there will be 10 days of Lectures by guest faculty on the following topics in sequence.

  • Opening Ceremony: 31st July Chief Guest: The Chief Justice of India Justice B.R.Gavai. Time: 5:00 PM, India / 12:30 PM, British.
  • 1st August: Historical Perspective & Introduction to Mediation. By: Diana Asonaba Dapaah, former Dy Attorney & Dy Law Minister, Ghana
  • 2nd August: Online Mediation - Advantages & Dis-advantages. By: Jitendra Mohan Sharma, Sr.Advocate & Mediator, Supreme Court of India
  • 3rd August: Communication - Inter personal skills, the path to understanding. By: Mia Forbes Pirie, International Mediation Exponent, London
  • 4th August: Negotiation - Types & Methods of Negotiation. By: Adamya Raj, International Mediator & Trainer, RADANKS Ltd., London UK
  • 5th August: Overview of Conflicts - Styles, Management & Resolution. By: JP Sengh, Sr. Advocate, Sr. Mediator & Trainer,Delhi.
  • 6th August: Impasse in Mediation & the way out. By: A.J.Jawad Registrar and CEO, IAMC, Hyderabad.
  • 7th August: Ethics - Confidentiality, Neutrality & Self Determination. By: Brian Speers Sr. Mediator & Trainer, former President, CLA. Belfast, Northern Ireland.
  • 8th August: Mediation Advocacy. By: Justice of Appeal Vasheist Kokaram, Judge, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Trinidad & Tobago.
  • 9th August: United Nation's SDGs & Mediation. By: Rajiv Dutta, Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Arbitrator, Mediator, FCIarb
  • 10th August: The genesis & need for the Singapore Convention. By: Joe Tirado, London, Independent Arbitrator, Mediator & ADR Consultant.
  • 11th August: Closing Ceremony: Chief Guest Justice Surya Kant, Senior Judge Supreme Court of India, Time: 5:00 PM, India / 12:30 PM, British.

These Lectures will be for 60-75 minutes every day. The Guest faculty are Mediation exponents from across the Commonwealth.

There will be a Host from NIVAARAN to conduct the lecture everyday. The host for the day will do the Opening Remarks, introduce the topic & the Guest Speaker, deal with the Q&A and at the end give the Closing Remarks. 

The Guest lecture every day will be at 5:00 PM, India / 12:30 PM, British Time. It will be for 30 flexible minutes, Q&A for 20 minutes & for the entire conduct, host will take 10 minutes.
