Xavier Moot Court Competition In Collaboration With ICSI IIP [6th To 8th March 2025]

Xavier Law School will host the Xavier Moot Court Competition from March 6th to 8th, 2025, in collaboration with ICSI IIP. This three-day event will bring together 32 teams from across India and esteemed judges from various legal sectors.

ICSI Institute of Insolvency Professionals (ICSI IIP) is a frontline regulator registered with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. ICSI IIP is registered under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Institute of Company Secretary of India (ICSI). ICSI IIP is also the first organization in the country to bring out a monthly journal on the subject of Insolvency and Bankruptcy law. In the coming years, ICSI IIP intends to establish itself as a supportive wing for the IPs by helping them in their Education and Development and to have an effective oversight mechanism for monitoring and disciplining the Insolvency Professionals.

The Moot Court Competition:

The competition aims to foster legal excellence and provide participants with an opportunity to interact with leading industry professionals and academicians, helping them to build a strong foundation for their careers. By engaging with contemporary issues in insolvency law, participants will not only sharpen their legal acumen but also prepare for future roles as advocates, corporate advisors, and policymakers. This collaboration underscores Xavier Law School's commitment to academic innovation and professional growth.

Details of the Moot Court Competition:

  • Date of Competition: 6th – 8th March 2025
  • Mode of Conduct: Physically on Campus
  • Venue: Xavier Law School, XIM University, Plot No: 12(A), Nijigada, Kurki, Harirajpur-752050, District-Puri, Odisha, India.

Eligibility:

  • All students duly enrolled and pursuing a full-time 3-year LL.B. program or a 5-year integrated LL.B. program from the Institution/University recognized by the Bar Council of India or equally competent authority shall be eligible to participate in the competition.
  • Only one team from a particular college can register for participation.

Team Composition:

Each team shall comprise a maximum number of three members (two speakers and one researcher) or a minimum number of two members (one speaker and one speaker-cum-researcher).

Awards:

  • Winner Cash Prize of INR 50,000/- (Fifty Thousand Only) + One free Manupatra Academy course of choice.
  • Runner's Up Cash Prize of INR 30,000/- (Thirty Thousand Only) + 75% discount on any one Manupatra Academy course.
  • Second Runners-up 50% discount on any one Manupatra Academy course.
  • Best Memorial Cash Prize of INR 10,000/- (Ten Thousand Only)
  • Best Researcher Cash Prize of INR 5,000/- (Five Thousand Only)
  • Best Mooter Cash Prize of INR 5,000/- (Five Thousand Only)
  • All other participants 15% discount on any one course from Manupatra Academy.
  • All participants will get 1-month free access to the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Module + Each team member of winner and runners-up will be provided a Bare Act on the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Law and Company Law (G.K Kapoor) by TAXMANN.

Registration Process:

  • Interested teams are required to register for the Competition by completing the Registration Form. Registration shall not be accepted through any means other than the Registration Form.
  • Prior payment of INR 5,000/- (Five Thousand Only) per team as a Registration Fee is required to fill out the Registration Form. The registration fee shall be inclusive of accommodation and food.
  • Every team must submit a payment of INR 5,000 (Five Thousand Rupees only) through Bank Transfer by 19th February 2025 (11:59 P.M. IST) to complete their registration for the Competition.
