Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice-Chancellor, organized its first-ever First Aid Training Camp through its Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit on 12.09.2025 at the University. The camp witnessed participation from faculty and around 51 students and was witnessed by dignitaries from the Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross including Mr. Varinder, Dr. Ganga Sharma, Dr. Kimi Sood, and Mr. Siddharth Kondal.

The camp was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, who lauded the YRC team for their initiative in equipping students with essential life-saving skills. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the importance of first aid knowledge as a component of education, especially in preparing responsible and aware citizens. The event commenced with a welcome note by YRC President, Mr. Romil Chawla, who highlighted the objectives of the camp and acknowledged the contributions of the university leadership and resource persons.

The technical sessions began with Dr. Kimi Sood, who introduced the participants to the history, principles, and humanitarian values of the Red Cross Movement. She also educated students on the essential do's and don'ts in administering first aid. Her presentation was followed by live demonstrations of CPR, recovery positions, the Heimlich manoeuvre, and other vital emergency response techniques.

Further enhancing the camp, Dr. Ganga Sharma delivered a session with detailed practical demonstrations on handling real-life emergencies, encouraging active student participation through hands-on training. The interactive format ensured that students not only observed but practiced key techniques under expert supervision.

The session concluded with an open interaction between the participants and resource persons, where queries were addressed in a discussion, ensuring conceptual clarity and practical understanding among the attendees. The university looks forward to continuing such efforts to build a prepared, empathetic, and socially responsible student community.
